Grants help keep children from smoking

The Paso del Norte Health Foundation’s Smoke Free Paso del Norte initiative in El Paso, Texas awarded four grants to help El Paso and Southern New Mexico organizations with anti-smoking programs for children.

Two organizations were awarded funding for implementing LST in their schools:

  • Children in Need of Services (CHINS) Tobacco Education and Cessation Help received $95,736.30 to implement LST in school districts of Otero County.
  • Families and Youth Inc. received $73,700 for A Smoke Free Doña Ana County and will implement LST classes to middle-school students in Las Cruces public schools.
