Linn County 4th Graders Report Increases in Substance Abuse Prevention Knowledge and Skills

The Linn County Alcohol and Drug Prevention Program provided 627 fourth graders with Botvin LifeSkills Training during the 2011-2012 school year. After the fourth graders completed the program, the Linn County Alcohol and Drug Prevention Program conducted a survey on the students with the following results:

  • 96% of students indicated an increase in decision-making skills,
  • 91% increase in refusal skills,
  • and a 91% increase in knowledge about the risks of tobacco use.
