CADCA Accepts Applications for National Recognition

CADCA offers coalitions the chance to receive national recognition for their contributions to community-level substance use and abuse outcomes. Their goal is to illustrate the core contributions of coalitions and allow them to be nationally recognized for their efforts and accomplishments.

“This is about so much more than who has the biggest outcomes. This is an opportunity for coalitions to show off their skill in telling their coalition story which involves making a strong case for their coalition’s contributions to the outcomes they are reporting. This ability to communicate the impact of their work in a way that others can understand and appreciate is extremely important for a coalition’s sustainability” says Andrea de la Flor, CADCA’s Evaluation and Research Manager and manager of the GOT OUTCOMES! award program.

This year a new category called “Coalition in Focus Award – Illicit or Other Drug” has been created. It’s goal is to highlight the success of coalitions that focus in substance abuse prevention and reducing the use of illicit substances.

This isn’t just any normal award. “The application process quite unique because it incorporates personalized feedback and support to all applicants prior to submitting their final materials to CADCA” says de la Flor. This incorporates the applicants within the process that demonstrate the coalitions success rates. It couldn’t be any more direct than that!

This year’s award winners will receive national recognition as a model coalition at CADCA’s National Leadership Forum in February 2014 and free registration and travel to and from the event. They will also participate in a Forum workshop to showcase their successes and will be featured in a variety of CADCA communications throughout the year.
